In the tradition of Shudokan Karate-do, a Sensei is a highly esteemed teacher. But there are those who pursue Karate-do with a true passion, and who dedicate their lives to the teaching and preservation of the way.  These lucky few reach the level of Shihan - the teacher of teachers.

Shihan Dave Lybbert for his dedicated service, discipline and devotion to the way. He holds a 6th degree black belt and has over 30 years of Karate experience. In addition to being a great leader and spiritual teacher, he is an accomplished fighter, with many awards for his expertise in Kumite (sparring), katas and weapons.

Beyond all the awards and accolades, Dave Lybbert's greatest strength lies in his patience and his ability to communicate with children.  It is that strength that makes the Karate Center truly a family-friendly dojo.

Here is what Dave tells his students about attitude:

Be strong so that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

Take health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone you meet.

Look at the positive side of everything and make your happiness come true.

Think only the best; work for only the best; and expect only the best.

Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as your own.

Look for the good in all people and make them feel worthwhile.

Wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every person you meet a smile.

Give so much time to improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

If you have nothing good to say about others, say nothing.

Be too large for worry; too noble for anger; too strong for fear; and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
